I just figured Prime and Bridget would be different since they have alien DNA as well as infected DNA... I guess the rules apply to them too

As I recall, Dougs' girlfriend infected him while watching a horror movie. He was probably thinking about the actress who kept managing to lose her top throughout the movie and thinking what he'd do to 'protect' her if he were in the movie, regardless of the 'self-sacrifice'.

Well, don't forget, as Brian was growing up to be the super geeky, nerd math prodigy his parents intended, he wanted to be "just a normal kid". He even dropped out to accomplish this. So, even with all the super seeming abilities, he still wanted to be accepted as "normal".
